This visa is not for ongoing work in Australia.

Stay and Travel

The visa may allow a stay of up to 2 years.

You can leave and return to Australia as many times as you want while the visa remains valid. Time spent outside Australia does not extend the visa.

You cannot extend this visa. To stay longer, you must apply for another visa.

Eligibility

You must:

  • Have an approved sponsor that is a temporary activities sponsor.
  • Have an approved nomination before applying, unless sponsored by an Australian Commonwealth Government agency.
  • Be invited by the sponsoring Commonwealth Government agency, where applicable.
  • Usually be at least 18 years old when the visa decision is made.
  • Meet health and character requirements.
  • Maintain adequate health insurance for your whole stay.
  • Have functional English.

  • Be able to financially support yourself and accompanying family members.
  • Pay, or arrange to pay, Australian Government debts owed by you or relevant family members.
  • Sign an Australian Values Statement if aged 18 or over.

Visa cancellation or refusal history may affect eligibility. A visa may not be granted if it is not in the best interests of an applicant under 18.

Applying in Australia

If applying in Australia, you must generally hold a valid temporary substantive visa. You cannot hold:

  • Subclass 403 in the Domestic Worker stream;

Subsequent entrants should be listed on the nomination form, unless the sponsor is a Commonwealth Government agency, and provide a sponsor letter confirming sponsorship.

Family members granted the visa can work up to 40 hours every two weeks.

  3. Gather identity, sponsor, financial, insurance, English, training, and character documents.
  4. Create or log in to ImmiAccount.
  5. Lodge the application online and attach documents.
  6. Pay the visa application charge.

Family applications can be processed together, but each family member needs their own paid application and attached documents.

Do not arrange travel until written visa grant confirmation is received.

Processing

Use the visa processing time guide for recently decided applications. Processing times are indicative only.

Applications may take longer if they are incomplete, incorrectly completed, require verification, or need further information. The Department will not process an application until the correct charge is paid.

After Applying

If applying in Australia, you may receive a Bridging visa A. It begins if your existing visa expires while the application is being processed.

A Bridging visa A does not allow return to Australia after departure and cancels when you leave Australia. Do not cancel your current visa, as this can make you unlawful and ineligible for a Bridging visa A.

Keep your details current in ImmiAccount, including changes to:

  • Passport
  • Address, phone number, or email
  • Relationship status
  • Birth of a child

Report application mistakes using Form 1023. Notify the Department of a newborn child using Form 1022 and supporting documents.

The Department may request health examinations, biometrics, or further information.

Visa Conditions and Obligations

You and family members must comply with all visa conditions and Australian laws.

Check individual conditions, work rights, and study entitlements through VEVO or the visa grant letter.

If your sponsor ends your training, tell the Department. A new organisation must become your sponsor and submit a new nomination before you train with them.

If you change training programs with the same sponsor, the sponsor must lodge a new nomination and you must submit a new visa application after nomination approval.

Important Warnings
