Purpose

This visa allows eligible Israeli citizens to holiday, work and study in New Zealand.

Eligibility

You must:

• Be aged 18 to 30.
• Be a citizen of Israel with a valid Israeli passport.
• Hold a passport valid for at least 3 months after visa expiry.
• Not have previously held a New Zealand working holiday visa, even if unused.
• Be in good health and of good character.
• Have genuine reasons for coming to New Zealand.
• Have at least NZD $4,200 for living expenses.
• Hold full medical insurance for your whole stay.
• Have plans and funds to leave New Zealand.

You may still apply if you have held working holiday visas for other countries.

Work, Study and Travel Rights

Work

You may work for up to 12 months in temporary jobs. You can work for any employer, but no more than 3 months for one employer.

You must:

• Work under an employment or services contract.
• Do only legal work.
• Not take a permanent job.
• Not operate a business as an owner.
• Not provide commercial sexual services.
• Not invest in a commercial-sexual-services business.

A job offer is not required.

You must obtain an Inland Revenue Department (IRD) number to pay tax on New Zealand earnings.

Study

You may study or train for up to 6 months total.

Travel

You may travel in and out of New Zealand as often as you like before the visa expires.

Stay and Visa Validity

You may stay for up to 12 months.

You must arrive in New Zealand within 12 months of visa issue. You cannot delay or cancel the visa. If you do not arrive within that period, it expires and you cannot apply for another New Zealand working holiday visa.

Your visa starts:

• On entry to New Zealand, if approved while outside New Zealand; or
• On the visa issue date, if already in New Zealand.

Evidence and Documents

When applying, provide your passport details.

Immigration New Zealand may request:

• Medical examination or chest X-ray evidence.
• Police certificates.
• Evidence of at least NZD $4,200.
• Medical insurance evidence.
• An onward ticket or funds to buy one.

Acceptable funds evidence may include bank statements, credit-card statements, bank drafts or traveller’s cheques.

Your onward-travel funds must be additional to the NZD $4,200 living-expense requirement.

Medical insurance evidence may include an insurance certificate or insurer approval letter. Insurance may need to cover hospital stays.

If required:

• Medical certificates and chest X-rays must be less than 3 months old when received.
• Police certificates must be less than 6 months old when submitted.
• Non-English police and medical certificates require certified English translations.
• Submit scanned copies of original documents.

How to Apply

1. Gather required documents and evidence.
2. Apply online in English through the Immigration New Zealand online application system.
3. Create or log in to your online account.
4. Complete the application, upload documents and pay applicable fees.
5. Check your account for updates and respond to information requests.
6. Immigration New Zealand will email its decision.

If approved, you will receive an eVisa.

Arrival Requirements

All travellers must complete a New Zealand Traveller Declaration.

You can submit it:

• From 24 hours before air travel begins; or
• From 24 hours before a ship leaves its last overseas port.

You may be refused entry permission if you are not a genuine visitor, no longer meet character requirements, have changed circumstances, refuse biometrics, or cannot show onward travel or sufficient departure funds.

Family

A partner or child cannot be included in this visa application. Each family member who wants to travel to New Zealand must apply for their own visa.

Staying Longer

You may be eligible for a further 3 months if you complete at least 3 months of seasonal work in viticulture or horticulture. Apply for a Working Holiday Extension Work Visa.

If your temporary visa expires while that application is being decided, Immigration New Zealand will normally issue an Interim Visa so you can remain lawfully.
