Purpose

The Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) allows certain family members of eligible Employment Pass (EP) or S Pass holders to live in Singapore.

Eligibility

The main pass holder must:

• Hold an EP or S Pass.
• Earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $6,000.
• Be sponsored by an established Singapore-registered company, usually their employer.

The salary requirement is based on the main pass holder’s salary, not combined household income.

EP holders applying as overseas ICTs under WTO GATS or an applicable FTA are generally not eligible for LTVPs, unless specifically covered by an applicable FTA and meeting prevailing criteria.

If legally married or with children, the main pass holder may instead be eligible for a Dependant’s Pass.

Stay and renewal

The LTVP is valid for:

• The validity of the main work pass; or
• The duration requested;

whichever is shorter.

The pass may be renewed.

Submit a separate application for each family member. Applications may be submitted with the main work-pass application or later.

For foreign-born stepchildren aged 12 or below applying for a new LTVP, a Verification of Vaccination Requirements document may be required. This applies where the previous LTVP expired or was cancelled more than 30 days earlier.

Application steps

1. Prepare the required documents.
2. Submit the application through the relevant MOM online service or form.
3. Pay the $105 application fee.
4. Wait for an in-principle approval (IPA) or rejection.
5. Ensure the foreigner meets Singapore’s current travel requirements.
6. After arrival, issue the pass and pay the issuance fee.
7. Complete fingerprint and photo registration if required.
8. Set up the digital pass in SGWorkPass.
9. Receive the physical pass card.

For EP and S Pass dependants, applications are submitted through the EP eService.

In-principle approval and entry

An approved IPA letter includes a pre-approved single-entry visa for the foreigner to enter Singapore.

The foreigner does not need to be in Singapore when applying. MOM advises bringing them to Singapore only after approval.

Pass issuance

The foreigner must be in Singapore when the pass is issued.

For issuance, provide:

• Passport details.
• Singapore contact details.
• Current Short-Term Visit Pass or immigration-pass details.
• Singapore residential address.
• Card delivery address.
• Details of up to three authorised card recipients.

MOM may also require:

• Passport page showing arrival date.
• Medical examination or medical declaration form.
• Declaration form attached to the IPA letter.

After issuance, MOM emails a notification letter to the foreigner and applicant.

Notification letter

The notification letter:

• Allows travel into and out of Singapore while awaiting the card.
• States whether fingerprint and photo registration is required.
• Is valid for 1 month from issue.

Extensions may be requested if more time is needed for card-registration procedures.

After Singpass registration, the dependant can access their digital pass through SGWorkPass.

Physical pass card

The card is delivered within 5 working days after registration or document verification.

If two delivery attempts fail, collect the card from the relevant MOM service centre from 3 working days after the second attempt. No appointment is needed.

Work rights

LTVP holders must obtain a separate work pass before working in Singapore.

After receiving a job offer, the prospective employer must apply for an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit. The LTVP holder must meet the requirements for that work pass.

LTVP holders cannot work in objectionable occupations, including dance hostess or masseur roles.

No foreign worker levy or quota is required for eligible LTVP holders working in Singapore.

Ongoing obligations

Notify MOM if the dependant’s personal information changes.

Apply for a replacement card if it is lost, stolen or damaged.

Cancel the LTVP when it is no longer required.

Important warnings

• MOM cannot extend a visitor’s pass merely because an LTVP application is pending.
• If medical results delay issuance, request a Short-Term Visit Pass extension 7 to 14 days before expiry.
• Late extension requests may result in overstaying fines.
• Bring the foreigner to Singapore only after the LTVP is approved.
