Purpose and stay

The Work Holiday Pass allows eligible Australian and New Zealander students and graduates to live, work and holiday in Singapore.

It is valid for 12 months and is issued only once. It cannot be renewed.

Eligibility

You must:

  • Be a citizen of Australia or New Zealand.
  • Be aged 18 to 30 when applying.
  • Hold a university degree, or have completed the equivalent of two years of full-time undergraduate university study.

Work and study rights

You may:

  • Work for companies registered with the Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA).
  • Work for organisations registered with the Registry of Societies (ROS).
  • Work in regulated professions, including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, architecture or law, if you meet Singapore registration requirements.

You must not:

  • Take freelance employment.
  • Work for the same employer for more than 6 months.
  • Study or train beyond the period specified for the eligible visa programme.

Family provisions

Family passes are not available under this programme.

Fees and processing

  • Pass issuance: S$175 per pass.
  • Multiple Journey Visa: S$30, if applicable.
  • Application processing: Within 4 weeks for most cases.

Additional document requests may extend processing time.

Application timing and approval

Apply no more than 3 months before your intended travel date.

If approved, you will receive an in-principle approval (IPA) letter by email. You must get the pass issued within 3 months of the IPA letter date.

If you cannot issue the pass before the IPA expires, request an extension at least 2 weeks before expiry.

Required documents

Graduates

  • Passport personal-particulars page.
  • Degree certificate or academic transcripts.

Undergraduates

  • Passport personal-particulars page.
  • University letter stating matriculation, name, nationality/citizenship, date of birth and year of study.
  • University student card.

The university letter must be dated within 3 months before application.

Documents not in English require the original and an official English translation certified by the university. Upload documents in PDF or JPEG format, with each file no larger than 2MB.

How to apply

  1. Prepare the required documents.
  2. Submit the application through the Work Holiday Pass eService.
  3. Wait for an IPA or rejection letter.
  4. Meet Singapore’s latest travel requirements.
  5. Enter Singapore and get the pass issued within the IPA validity period.

Pass issuance

You must be in Singapore to get the pass issued.

You may apply for issuance:

  • Through EP eService, if you have Singpass.
  • Through an employment agent using EP eService.
  • At the Employment Pass Services Centre (EPSC), if you do not have Singpass.

Provide:

  • Passport details.
  • Singapore contact details.
  • Current Short-Term Visit Pass or immigration pass details.
  • Singapore residential address meeting housing requirements.
  • Singapore residential or office card-delivery address.
  • Details of up to three authorised card recipients.
  • Passport page showing Singapore arrival date.
  • Completed medical examination form.
  • Completed declaration form attached to the IPA letter.

Notification letter and travel

After issuance, you will receive a notification letter. It:

  • Allows you to start work.
  • Allows travel in and out of Singapore while awaiting the pass card.
  • States whether fingerprint and photo registration is required.
  • Is valid for 1 month from issue.

You may request an extension if more time is needed for card-registration procedures.

Fingerprints, photo and digital pass

If your notification letter requires registration, make an EPSC appointment and register within 2 weeks after pass issuance.

Bring:

  • Original passport.
  • Appointment letter.
  • Notification letter.
  • Mobile phone with a local number.
  • Singpass and SGWorkPass apps.

Registration captures fingerprints and photo and supports Singpass registration. Use SGWorkPass to view your digital work pass, status, expiry date and employment information.

Pass card delivery

The Work Holiday Pass card is delivered within 5 working days after registration or document verification.

For delivery collection:

  • Pass holder: passport or digital work pass.
  • Authorised recipient: NRIC, FIN or passport.

After two failed delivery attempts, collect the card at EPSC from 3 working days after the second attempt. Bring the required passport, notification letter and, where applicable, an authorisation letter.

Important warnings

  • Do not work freelance.
  • Do not work for one employer longer than 6 months.
  • Do not exceed permitted study or training periods.
  • Get the pass issued before the IPA letter expires.
  • Cancel the pass if you no longer require it.
